Dream Predictions

Tapping Into the Future

Since Bibical times, people have claimed to have premonitions in their dreams. We often hear about (and sometimes experience) dreams that seem to predict events before they happen. Sometimes it is the psyche using the unnoticed details of our lives to weave images of a likely outcome. Other times, such "prophecies" are just the dream's magic lantern projecting fantasies of the world as it might someday be.

But some future dreams seem to be more than intuitive leaps or shrewdly agglomerated fantasy . Their origins seem to lie in actual events not yet manifest---here they are journalism, not imagination, reporting what they see in filed dispatches from tomorrow.

Here is a chance to share your own dreams of the future. Your submission will be automatically date-stamped. Let's create an "archive of tomorrow---" just to see what happens!

One famous example:

On June 28, 1914, Monseigneur Joseph de Lanyi, Bishop of Grosswarden, dreamed he received a black-bordered letter with the heraldry of his former student, Archduke Franz Ferdinand. He then saw the Archduke shot by an assassin while riding in a limousine. Words appeared across this scene: "Dear Dr.Lanyi, my wife and I have been victims of a political crime as Sarajevo, June 28, 1914, 4 am."

Lanyi woke, horrified, and not only jotted down the particulars of his nightmare but drew a sketch of it. He could not convince anyone of the truth of his premonition, but insisted on celebrating an early Mass for the Archduke. Ten hours later, an assaassin shot fired the two shots that set off World War I.
